Here is the finale from the 1989 Tramore Tops of the Town entry that we showed recently on our stream.

Huge interest in seeing this one again as it seemed half of Lisduggan was in it.. here is the full ‘Ballroom Of Romance’ scene including the dancing at the start. Taken from the St. Pauls Tops 1989.

Here is the final to the 1983 Raytex Tops of the Town show. Conducted by Patsy Sheridan the scene starts with him singing ‘In The Navy’ from the pit and goes on to feature Paddy Galvin as a soloist.

Fronted by Hazel Kelly (Tebay) here is the Blood Brothers scene from the 1993 Ray Ban Tops, produced by Michael Grant – also featuring Damien Squell Walshe, Paul Greene and Brenda Giles.

Here is the finale to the St. Pauls Tops Of The Town 1989 show. It features Brian ‘Mod’ Kennedy on lead vocals.

Some classic comedy today from Nokia Tops 1986 – Denny and Paul Corcoran in ‘The Flea’ (with some help from Anne McGrath)

Timely at the moment considering what’s coming up next weekend! Join Nicky Cummins and Sean O’Kelly for a couple of minutes to see what was topical 27 years ago. The lads are hilarious as ever!

Happy Bank Holiday Weekend! Heres another one of the lovely vintage videos taken backstage and around the Theatre during the John Player Tops. I’m not 100% on it’s origin, but there’s loads of familiar young faces in there. Have a look!

The brilliant family from the 1993 Tops of the Town Tramore show that reached the televised final in the Gaeity Theatre. Using songs from the Pyjama game to a Chorus Line it was a show stopper. Enjoy.

Featuring the legendary Ritchie Collins leading the troops is the 1984 Clover Tops opening which started with “No Business Like Show Business’.

Todays video comes from the Ray Ban Tops show of 1992 and its an extract from Little Shop Of Horrors featuring Skid Row (led by Billy McCarthy), Little Shop Of Horrors and Mean Green Mother from Outer Space.

Some more comedy from the 1994 Tops of the Town national winning show. This time from Davy Sutton and Nicky Cummins as Garth Brooks and Dolly Parton.

Another Tops clip – this time from Ray Ban again – 1992. The Finale of the show started with a Blues Brothers ‘Gimme some lovin’ lead by Terry ‘Scol‘ Grant and led into ‘Blow Gabriel Blow’ led by Hazel Tebay. Another classic scene.

Today is the fifth anniversary of the passing of our dear friend and inspiration Bryan Flynn. Here is the video of the Tops Of The Town final 1994 Chaplin scene. No further description is necessary. #genius

This is the opening from the Tramore Tops 1992 production produced by the late great Bryan Flynn. This show got to the national quarter finals. The opening featuring songs from Company and Godspell was fronted by Carrie Crowley and Keith Dunphy.

Featuring such songs as ‘Kisses of Fire Burning Burning’ and ‘Come on Baby Light My Fire’ – it’s easy to see the common theme in the opening to this particular ‘Glass’ show. The video quality isn’t great, but you can still sense the energy from the stage and make outContinue Reading

This scene features the legendary Gary Power as Dr. Dolittle from the 1990’s Nokia Tops of the Town entry, produced by Michael Grant. It also has some familiar faces popping up along the way including Davy Sutton on his Ostrich! Enjoy.

Our mini series of ‘Tip Tops’ from 1987 comes to a close with this ‘Les Mis’ scene from Nokia recorded live from the Gaiety stage. Nokia were the beaten local finalists in 1987, losing out to Waterford Crystal who marched to the national final that year, narrowly losing out.

From the ‘Tip Tops’ series live from the Gaiety stage here is the ‘Silent Mikes’ comedy mime routine from the 1987 Nokia production. Spearheaded by the legendary Eddie Cody the Silent Mikes had a cult following back in the late 80’s / early 90’s.

More than one or two legends in this one – taken from the RTE Tip Tops Programme in 1987 which was filmed live on the Gaiety Stage. Enjoy as it starts with Denny Corcoran and Anne McGrath and goes into a mad musical ensemble …..

It’s time for another Tops video and we are back to 1986 and Nokia, produced by Denny Corcoran. This time Denny chose a ‘Swing’ opening with a song from A Chorusline added in for good measure.

Another legend has left the Waterford Theatre circle. A compere, comedian, producer, performer, broadcaster, soundtrack to so many peoples St. Patricks Day Parade… the list goes on and on. A man who made so many people laugh and who did so much for charity. Some people have been on toContinue Reading

One of the great scenes from the Tramore Tops show that made the final in 1993 – a medley of songs from West End and Broadway musicals. Soloists are Liam Butler, Karen Steenson, Liam Molumby and Seneiva Magill. Hard to believe it’s 25 years ago now!

Back to Tops today and a video from 1990 featuring the opening of the Nokia show and an extract from ‘Anything Goes’, produced by Michael Grant.

Here is the centrepiece scene from the 1994 Waterford Crystal Tops show – Aladdin – which at the time was just a brand new Disney Film. Enjoy!

Delighted to get a copy of this 1993 feature programme that RTE ran coming up to the national final. Its an hour long feature with familiar faces including a song from Liam Butler and an interview panel that featured Bryan Flynn. There are a host of other national faces suchContinue Reading

I’m doing my weekly Tops video on a Monday this week as I missed last Thursday somehow! This is the finale to the 1986 Nokia tops of the Town produced by Denny Corcoran. Featuring ‘Big Time’ from Mack and Mabel, ‘I Am what I Am’ from La Cage Aux FollesContinue Reading

Another legend from Tops days and Waterford Theatre in general is one Patsy Sheridan. Here he is from the 1992 Port And Docks tops show with his team of tap dancers performing ‘Song and Dance Man’. This scene was notable because Patsy was conducting the show in the pit andContinue Reading

Here’s another treat from the past – the finale from the 1985 Waterford Crystal Tops show produced by Michael Grant with a host of Waterford Legends featuring on the vocals. It is ‘of it’s time’ so the video quality isn’t the best, but it’s good enough to give an ideaContinue Reading

This is a great little slideshow that was originally put together by Michael Grant for the Variety Club of Waterford’s Tops dinner back in 2008. It has quite a lot of personalities in it (not just Dee Lanigan!), crossing between quite a number of the Tops shows over the years.Continue Reading

Today we have the finale from the 1984 Clover Meats Tops of the Town show produced by Michael Grant. It’s a great clip because it features another Waterford Legend of days gone by – Richie Collins singing Alexanders Ragtime Band. This 1984 show upset the odds by beating the muchContinue Reading

People seemed to really enjoy the last ‘Faces from the Crowd’ video – so here’s another one, also taken before a Tops show in 1990. There’s loads more familiar faces in there in the Theatre Royal. Enjoy!

In 1993 Tramore Players Anonymous were ‘Making the Perfect Man’, based on the Chris DeBurgh song of the same name. The scene was lead by Liam Molumby and the entire show was produced by Bryan Flynn. It’s a great scene and a brilliant example of making a scene out ofContinue Reading

In 1990 Waterford Crystal were presenting ‘Metropolis’ as the Centre scene of their Tops entry. This entry went as far as the national quarter-finals in Athlone. Produced by Denny Corcoran.

I thought this would be different for a change. A pre-show crowd in the Theatre Royal before renovations with the distinctive old red seats and no pit. It’s before a Tops show. There’s a load of people in there that I recognise, and I’m sure you will recognise too!

Video day today, and I’m delighted to add the Miss Saigon scene from the Nokia Tops in 1990. Produced by Michael Grant you’ll find a host of familiar faces in this one as well.

Who could forget Paul Kavanagh in a bald wig and Kieran Doyle in full Rocky Horror garb as Tramore brought us a clip of the controversial ‘Rocky Horror Show’ in the 1992 Tops. Bryan Flynn was at the start of his career and this production reached the national quarter final.Continue Reading

Here is a classic Tops moment from the Tramore Tops of 1989  – but the video also includes a slide show of some legends of Tops from years gone by. This video was used first in the Bilberry Goats comedy show featuring the aforementioned slide show and finishing off withContinue Reading

Today I’m delighted to add the video of the 1986 ‘Me and My Girl’ scene that featured in the national final. Waterford Crystal reached the televised final 2 years in succession – 1986 and 1987, both produced by Michael Grant and featuring huge musical scenes as their centrepiece. Have aContinue Reading

Today we’re looking back to a video from 1992 to ‘The Mighty River Suir’ which flows into ‘Downtown’. The Port and Docks group featured ‘The Mighty River Suir’ in all of their shows, and this one was no exception. Soloist Martin O’Neill. Enjoy!
